Olympian Joe Maloy had a banner summer winning Escape from Alcatraz in June then competing in July as the team anchor with Gwen Jorgensen, Ben Kanute, and Kirsten Kasper in Hamburg, Germany to earn the World Championship in Mixed Relay – a first for the United States. He was second out of the water, then took the lead in the final mile of the run, producing the best run split of the day by over two minutes.
