Barr, Brown, Callahan, Danisewicz, Schabort and Scheidies are coached by Mark Sortino, and Collins is coached by Christine Palmquist. Sortino and Palmquist are both USAT Level III Certified Coaches and have been coaches for Team USA Paratriathlon.

Barr will make his third trip to the Paralympics, having been on the USA Paralympic Swim Team in 2004 and 2008. Brown has 11 top-5 finishes at ITU Paratriathlon events and he was the bronze medalist at the ITU Grand Final in 2012. Callahan, a former competitive high school swimmer and now a student at the University of Arizona, has nine ITU podium finishes.

Collins, the ITU Paratriathlon World Champion (PT4) in 2012, and a silver medalist in 2013, is a U.S. Army veteran and first-time Paralympian. Danisewicz, the 2015 USA Triathlon Paratriathlete of the Year, and the 2013 ITU World Paratriathlon Champion (PT2), has only finished off the podium once in her racing career.

Schabort, winner of the 2015 ESPY for Best Male Athlete with a Disability, will be competing in his sixth Paralympics. He has bronze (1992) and silver (2000) Paralympic medals in the marathon.

Scheidies is a 7-time Paratriathlon World Champion and has set the World’s fastest time for anyone with a disability at both the Olympic (1:57:24) and IRONMAN 70.3 distances (4:09:54). He has been selected as USA Triathlon’s Paratriathlete of the Year four times, most recently in 2015.

Following his win at the Rotterdam ITU Paratriathlon World Championships in July, Scheidies joined the coaching staff at Team MPI as USAT Level I Certified Coach. Along with his coaching experience, he brings his knowledge as a licensed physical therapist to help athletes train to race to their maximum potential.
